We have in-house retreats in the City and upstate in our place in Elmira. Join us in either place for some deeper experiences.
Step beyond the rhythm of the city and into a weekend of spiritual practice, incredible food, and the pleasure of learning to cook well.
Our retreats are designed as immersive experiences, where practice is no longer something you visit for just an hour. Instead, it becomes part of how you move through your entire day. While OHM Center’s roots are in New York City, our retreats take you beyond the sounds of the city into quiet, natural spaces where you can slow down, reconnect, learn, and enjoy being together.
Our upcoming 3-Day, 3-Night Conscious Kitchen Retreat in Elmira, NY over Columbus Day Weekend, with Chef David Claessen and OHM founder Suzanne Hill, brings together spiritual practice and conscious, delicious food.
Each day moves between inner practice and hands-on time in the kitchen, including:
Daily Meditation to quiet the mind, deepen awareness, and begin the day grounded and present
Mantra Chanting to clear and strengthen your energy on the physical, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual levels
Breathwork to open the body, move energy, and release tension
Sound Healing to settle the nervous system and deepen your practice
Hands-On Vegetarian Cooking Classes with Chef David Claessen, focused on flavorful Levantine and Mediterranean food
Practical Cooking Skills & Techniques you can take home and use in your own kitchen
Shared Meals made from the food we prepare together
Evening Mini Practices to wind down and integrate the day
Cooking-Related Film Screenings & Discussion with David, a former Hollywood cinematographer who will bring his filmmaker’s eye and behind-the-scenes perspective to what we watch
Mornings are devoted to spiritual practice, giving you time to clear the mind, open the body, and connect more deeply with yourself. In the afternoons, we shift into the kitchen, where David will guide you through preparing satisfying vegetarian meals that are both delicious and healing.
This isn’t about complicated “health food” or learning recipes you’ll never make again. It’s the kind of cooking that makes eating vegetarian feel easy and genuinely appealing.
In the evenings, we’ll come back together for a shorter spiritual practice followed by a cooking-related film. Part movie night and part film discussion, it’s a relaxed ending to a full day of practice, learning, cooking, eating, and being together.
Community building is part of it all. With just 6 retreat spaces, the weekend is intentionally intimate, giving everyone plenty of individual attention in the kitchen while preserving the quiet, personal experience that makes OHM retreats so special.
Arrive Friday evening and settle in. Saturday and Sunday are full retreat days, followed by a final morning of practice, cooking, and gathering together on Monday before departing around midday.
This retreat is for anyone who wants to step away from their usual routine, deepen their spiritual practice, become more confident in the kitchen, and experience how nourishing it can be to prepare and share beautiful food with other people.
Come hungry to learn, practice, cook, and eat. We’ll do all four together.
Suzanne will give reiki to everyone the morning of the second day so that you can get specific guidance to go deeper into healing whatever issue you're working with. We cleanse our energy for a day and then read what's in the layer underneath.
All the practices are geared toward REALLY calming down your nervous system. You think you know what that means...but then when you actually experience it, you will understand. You're whole body says "woah...this is amazing!"
There will be many short mantra sessions woven throughout each day. Mantra is a simple yet powerful way to purify your negative emotions and your negative karma. It's much easier to do in a group!
Your wellbeing is interrupted by some type of disharmony or one or more levels. Come discover what is coming between you and your peace of mind...between you and your wellbeing...between you and your joy.
We all eat together, either inside at our extra-long dining table, or outside at our extra-long picnic table. The meals are gorgeous to look at and delicious to eat. Many people have gone years without eating regularly with others.
Doing qi gong exercises and walking meditation on the grass is very powerful. You can feel the energy coursing through your body and your hands much more easily. Barefoot or with shoes...your choice!
Our beds are SUPER comfy and being outside the city you will sleep very, very well.
